Multi award-winning British film director from the North East of England, known for true crime, social justice and adventure documentaries.

Biography

Everyone has a story worth telling. My job is to get it on screen honestly, in a way that stays with people after the credits.

Paul Suggitt is a multi award-winning British film director, producer, screenwriter and broadcaster, best known for documentaries about true crime, social justice and adventure. He has made more than 100 productions since 2010. He came to filmmaking as an extreme adventurer. For Surviving Homeless he spent six weeks sleeping rough in Middlesbrough and Hartlepool; the film won Best Documentary Feature and Best Director at Accord Cine Fest in 2021 and had a global gala screening at Tees Valley International Film Festival, which in 2023 gave Paul its award for Outstanding Achievement in the Film Industry, presented by Robson Green.

Lee Duffy: Too Far, Too Soon looked at Teesside's most feared hard man through the people who knew him. Eddy: My Universe followed five-time Mr Universe Eddy Ellwood, and Surviving Reality and This is Pete follow Big Brother winners long after the cameras left. Alongside documentaries he directs commercials, brand films and music videos for clients including LNER, South Western Railway, Transport for Wales and Middlesbrough FC. He owns 7VEN Productions and is a founder of C7 Studios with Jamie Bulman, and works from Whitby and Teesside, filming worldwide.
